Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa will visit Rethymno from October 27 to October 29, 2024, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Four Holy Martyrs.
The program of events will commence on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 6:30 p.m., with the reception of the Patriarch at the entrance of the Church of the Four Holy Martyrs. This will be followed by a Great Patriarchal Vespers service, presided over by the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa.
On Monday, October 28, 2024, at 7:00 a.m., the Matins service and the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy will be celebrated by the Patriarch at the Church of the Four Holy Martyrs, followed by a Thanksgiving Doxology for the National Anniversary and a parade. Later the same day, at 5:00 p.m., a Festal Great Patriarchal Vespers service will be held, followed by a procession of the Holy Relics and the first Holy Icon of the Four New Martyrs, as well as the Holy Icon of the Virgin Mary Antiphonitria from the Holy Monastery of Myriokephala, presided over by the Patriarch.
Finally, on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at noon, a ceremony will be held at the Rethymno Town Hall to declare Patriarch Theodore II, an Honorary Citizen of the Municipality of Rethymno.
