At the Patriarchal See of Alexandria, on April 20, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria received Chorbishop Paul, head of the Chaldean Church in Egypt.
During the meeting, Chorbishop Paul conveyed heartfelt Paschal greetings to the Patriarch and expressed the gratitude of the newly elected Mar Paul III Nona for the congratulatory message sent upon his election.
The Chaldean Church, headquartered in Baghdad, traces its origins to the ancient Church of the East and became an Eastern Catholic Church in the 16th century following its union with the Roman Catholic Church.
In a spirit of pastoral concern, Patriarch Theodore II offered fervent prayers to the Risen Lord for those suffering, especially in the Middle East, where many communities continue to endure hardship, uncertainty, and conflict. He emphasized that, amid contemporary challenges, the light of the Resurrection remains the only unshakable source of hope and life, calling all people to pursue reconciliation, solidarity, and active love.
The Patriarch further stressed that true peace cannot be imposed but is born in the hearts of individuals who are illumined by the light of the Risen Christ and who consciously choose the path of dialogue and reconciliation.
He also extended his blessings to the Christians of Iraq, praising their enduring witness to faith despite ongoing trials, and offered encouragement to the leaders of Christian communities in Mesopotamia for strength and perseverance in their mission.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Chorbishop Paul presented the Patriarch with an honorary plaque as a sign of respect, while the Patriarch offered him an episcopal engolpion as a blessing. The visit concluded with a tour of the Patriarchal Cathedral for the Chaldean delegation.
