Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria welcomed General of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, Konstantinos Floros, in the hall of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, singing the Akathist Hymn, while the national anthems of the two states, Greece and Egypt, were playing in the background.
“It is a great pleasure and honour to be here today, as my visit to Egypt is not a mere ceremonial visit. My visit to Egypt comes after long-term cooperation we have with this state, which is a factor of stability and peace. We have deep-rooted and strong relations, both in the Armed Forces and withing our governments,” he stressed.
At the same time, he pointed out: “There are some ‘cracks’ and some ‘shocks’ in the region due to a specific state.” He added: “We do not deem anyone as an enemy unless one does it first. Whoever deems us as an enemy, we do the same thing as well.”
Konstantinos Floros concluded by making special reference to the strong relations between Greece and Egypt: “Egypt is a good and strong partner for security and stability in the region.”
“We, in this cooperation we have with the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean, do not see enemies, we are open to everyone. Dialogue and international law are the way to resolve any differences. We do not deem anyone as an enemy, but if someone thinks that we are the enemies, then we must behave accordingly.,” he stressed.
“I pray to the mother of the generals, to the Virgin Mary, for your glorious soldiers and for you personally”, stressed Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria.
The Patriarch of Alexandria offered to Konstantinos Floros an icon of Saints Konstantinos and Elen and Konstantinos Floros offered him souvenirs and offered him presents for his warm hospitality.
