This morning Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria has started his pastoral visits in Uganda.
He started from St. Nicholas Cathedral where he was warmly welcomed by Archbishop Makarios, Bishop Silvester and all the faithful.
The Patriarch extended condolence to the Church in Uganda for the loss of Metropolitan Jonah whom he referred to as a strong pillar in the Alexandrian throne. Amidst the heavy rain, the Patriarch laid a wreath on his grave.
It is reminded that Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa arrived at noon on Monday, October 11, 2021, at the Entebbe International Airport in Kampala, accompanied by Archim. Elpidophoros Limneos.
The Primate of the Church of Alexandria arrived in the capital of Uganda to begin the big missionary tour of Uganda and Tanzania.
The Patriarch was received with special honors at the airport by the locum tenens of the Metropolis of Kampala, Elder Metropolitan Makarios of Nairobi, Bishop Sylvester of Gulu and Eastern Uganda, Minister of the Presidency Thomas Tayebwa (representative of the President of Uganda), Embassy Counselor Mozari Mohanad (representative of the Ambassador of Egypt), Orthodox MP Theodoros Sekikubo, the clergy of the local Church and a large number of faithful.
In his statements to state TV and radio networks, which covered the arrival in a live broadcast, the Patriarch thanked the President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, for his respect for the Church of Saint Mark. He was very pleased to be back in the beautiful country of Uganda close to his spiritual children.
