Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria and All Africa received the commander and the crew of the Navy Frigate “Navarinon” on Tuesday afternoon, October 29, 2019, at the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen in Cairo.
The Primate of the Patriarchate of Alexandria greeted the officers of the Navy who serve their motherland and spoke about the inextricable links between Greece and Orthodoxy.
“May you have all the goods of God. The security of our country, Greece, relies on your hands,” he said characteristically and once again sent a message of peace to all Mediterranean countries. “The Mediterranean Sea must be a sea of peace because Egypt, Cyprus and Greece meet there.”
Patriarch Theodore also spoke about the contribution of the Navy to the work of the Patriarchate of Alexandria. “Wherever I put bells, they are a gift from the Navy.”
Patriarch Theodore spoke of completing 15 years of his Patriarchate and of the assurance he had given from the first moment that no church in Egypt would remain closed.
