Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa expressed his sorrow over the loss of the President of Greek Community of Alexandria, Edmondos Kasimatis, who passed away today due to complications associated with COVID-19.
“A patriot passed away, the pride of the Greek community of Alexandria and Egypt, in general, the great in soul and heart, Edmondos Kasimatis,” said the Alexandrian primate. “The late president sealed with his presence the modern history of the Greek community in Alexandria. Unfortunately, our Greek community today has become much poorer and weaker after his loss,” he added.
“The Church of St. Mark and I personally mourn the loss of the chosen member of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, Edmondos Kasimatis. We will pray every single day to the God of forgiveness and love for the repose of the soul of the noble brother and friend Edmondos, and we will ask God to give courage and consolation to his excellent and great family. May his memory be eternal,” concluded the Patriarch of Alexandria.
