Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria and All Africa performed the established official Doxology at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Greek Community of Alexandria, in the presence of the Patriarchal Vicar, Metropolitan Narcissus of Naucratis, Bishop Theodoros of Babylonia and Bishop Germanos of Tamiatheus.
“With many wishes, a lot of love, a lot of peace, may the forbearance of our Lord, cover us in 2022,” the Patriarch of Alexandria pointed out.
Welcoming the representative of the Greek Navy, Captain Konstantinos Varouxis, who is the liaison with the Egyptian navy, Patriarch Theodore stressed in his speech the friendship of the two countries, Egypt and Greece.
“May your presence be peaceful,” he said, “but above all may the waters that include our homelands be peaceful: our Cyprus and our Greece and our Egypt, but also all in the Middle East, all the countries.” He concluded: “The Lord God lives, the One Who determines the borders and the fortunes of people.”
At the same time, addressing the present representative of the Greek Community of Alexandria, the General Secretary of the organization, Dimitris Kavouras, the Primate of the Patriarchate wished a happy new year to all the community.
This was followed by the cutting of the traditional pie in the small house of the Greek Orthodox Church, in the presence of Metropolitan Daniel of Axum, the clergy and many people.
