Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, upon learning of the passing of Archon Vaios Prantzos, a devoted supporter of the ancient Patriarchate of Alexandria in its missionary work on the African continent, performed a memorial service for the repose of his blessed soul at the Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Savvas the Sanctified.
The late Archon Vaios Prantzos served for several years as President of the Brotherhood of the External Mission, based in Thessaloniki.
Our Lord, as the Patriarch emphasized in his address to the faithful and the students of the School of Saint Athanasius the Great, bestowed upon him many gifts.
“He cultivated these gifts and, through his Christ-centered life and good works, glorified Him.
With great love and personal care, he did everything possible to ensure that the Word of God reached even the most remote regions of Africa.
He worked tirelessly for the establishment of Holy Temples, schools, hospitals, and other institutions that bring love and warmth to thousands of people. He stood by the Patriarch and the Holy Hierarchs with a profound sense of responsibility.
Many times, he had the joy of visiting cities and villages in Africa, offering his personal labor, teaching with his extensive knowledge as both a civil engineer and an excellent theologian, and enduring fatigue and toil for the love of Christ. May the Holy Fathers of the Mission—Chrysostomos, Chariton, and Kosmas—accompany him on his journey to eternity. The children of Africa are praying… We all say a heartfelt THANK YOU to him!
May our Lord grant him rest from his many labors and struggles and welcome him into the joy of paradise!”
Finally, he expressed his heartfelt condolences to his wife, his relatives, Metropolitan Nikolaos of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki, and Fr. Asterios Hatzinikolaou and his associates, who have taken up the baton to continue his God-pleasing work.
