On February 1, 2020, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa welcomed the new Ambassador of Cyprus, Omiros Mavromatis, who visited the seat of the Patriarchate of Alexandria for the first time since taking office.
Ambassador Omiros Mavromatis expressed the support of the Cypriot government for the work of the Patriarchate. Accompanied by the Embassy’s successor Aristodimos Assiotis, he stressed that Nicosia is always on the side of the Alexandrian Church.
On his part, Patriarch Theodore asked Omiros Mavromatis to convey his warmest thanks to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Anastasiadis, pointing out the support of the Church of Cyprus as well as the faithful for the Patriarchate’s missionary work.
Finally, the primate of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, accompanied by Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, Metropolitan Narcissus of Nafkratis, and the Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod, Father Nikodimos Totkas, underscored the importance of the tripartite cooperation between Egypt, Cyprus, and Greece for the good of the three peoples and the community living in Egypt.
