Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria pointed out the need for reconciliation and love between the peoples at the Christmas Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Church.
According to ekkairo.org, the Alexandrian Hierarch sent a message of love, promoting the peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims: “Let’s take the whole day to pray for world peace. Let’s take the whole day to pray for love between the peoples and declare peace and reconciliation.”
Representatives of Egyptian political and military authorities attended the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy. Patriarch Theodore referred to them: “Today you came here to convey to us your wishes from the bottom of your hearts and to meet all together, like brothers and sisters, in the house of God,” he said. In addition, the Coptic Patriarch wished all the best to Patriarch Theodore.
Furthermore, the Greek ambassador in Cairo, Nikos Garilidis, a representative of the Embassy of the Republic Cyprus, the Consul of Greece in Cairo, Achilleas Bikis, and Secretary-General Chrysanthi Skoufaridou, as a representative of the Greek Community of Cairo, also attended the Divine Liturgy.
