On October 14, the Patriarch of Alexandria officiated the consecration of the katholikon of the Monastery of Saint Paraskevi, Busaana, Uganda, and then presided over the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy, accompanied by Elder Metropolitan Makarios of Nairobi, Bishops Neophytos of Nyeri and Mount Kenya and Silvester of Gulu and Eastern Uganda.
Also present at the service was Archim. Chrysostomos Koulourgiotis Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Mazi in Megara, Attiki, the clergy of the Metropolis and many believers.
The Patriarch spoke to the congregation about this historic day of the consecration of the Holy Monastery of Saint Paraskevi, as well as the importance of her work.
Prior to the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, the Patriarch elevated Fr. Prodoromos Lubega to the rank of an Archimandrite and Abbot of St. Paraskevi Monastery and then the enthronement ceremony took place.
In his speech to the new Abbot of the Monastery, the Patriarch asked him to teach the children the science of sciences and the art of arts, monasticism.
“Father Prodromos, tell the children about monasticism. Tell them it is the science of science and the art of arts. With the mental prayer “Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me” and the prayer rope, you will always be close to your spiritual Father, your Patriarch.”
Finally, addressing the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint Paraskevi of Mazi, Archim. Chrysostomos, the Patriarch expressed his gratitude for the donation offered for the building of the monastery in Africa.
On Wednesday, October 13, 2021, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa visited the Holy Monastery of St. Catherine of the Holy Metropolis of Kampala, which was reconstructed thanks to the contribution of a Romanian shipowner.
Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria tonsured Thavoria Kabalwanyi a nun of St. Catherine Nun’s Monastery in Kiyindi – Buikwe District. Then the Patriarch appointed her as head of the monastery.
