The Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, in response to the invitation of the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, honored with his presence, on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, the celebrations of the Presidency of the Republic of Egypt for the Islamic feast of Eid al-Fitr at the Al Manara International Conference Center in Cairo, accompanied by the Abbot of the Patriarchal Monastery of St. George, Archimandrite Damascus.
The Patriarch was warmly welcomed and received the President’s wishes, as in his official speech he warmly wished Christians the great feast of Easter in the presence of the Heads of the Churches of Egypt.
The Patriarch also met and exchanged greetings with high-ranking people, including Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, with whom the Patriarch shared his agony about the situation in Sudan with the enclaved and endangered Greeks there.
Finally, the Patriarch met in exchange of wishes with the Minister of Vakufi Mohamed Mukhtar and with Lieutenant General Mohamed Ahmed Zaki, General Commander of the Armed Forces of Egypt, who particularly praised the great work of the Patriarch.
