On Friday, January 17, 2020, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa performed the Divine Liturgy and artoklasia at the Church of Saints Athanasios and Kyrillos in Mansoura, which was the center of the former thriving Greek community.
Mansour is a male Arabic name that means “the one who is victorious”. Mansoura is a city which has attracted a large number of Greek merchants, such as Georgios Rallis from Chios and thousands of Greek immigrants.
The primate of the Patriarchate of Alexandria also cut the New Year’s vasilopita while wishing the faithful for a blessed new year.
