Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II met Patriarch John of Antioch in Damascus

On October 22, 2025, Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received John X, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, at the Syriac Orthodox Patriarchate Headquarters in Bab Touma, Damascus. His Beatitude was accompanied by Bishop Moussa Khoury and Deacon Hilarion Beshara.

Archbishops Mor Anthimos Jack Yacoub, Patriarchal Vicar of Jerusalem, Jordan and the Holy Land; Mor Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Assistant; Mor Andrawos Bahhi, Patriarchal Vicar for Youth Affairs and Christian Education; and Mor Augeen Al-Khoury Nemat, Patriarchal Secretary, were also present during the meeting.

During the visit, the two Patriarchs discussed matters of mutual concern between the two Churches as well as the current situation in the region.

Later the same day, Patriarch John X received Raed Al-Saleh, Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, at the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in Damascus. Their discussion focused on the ministry’s ongoing efforts and various issues of national and regional importance.
