Patriarch Kirill of Moscow has sent a congratulatory message to Patriarch Porfirije, on the occasion of the feast day of Saint Sava of Serbia, the enlightener and first archbishop of the Serbian Church.
Addressing the Serbian Patriarch with fraternal warmth, Patriarch Kirill extended his heartfelt greetings on the commemoration of Saint Sava, describing him as a “remarkable ascetic of piety” whose missionary and educational zeal firmly established the Serbian people “upon the rock of the apostolic faith.” He noted that Saint Sava spiritually gave birth to his people in Christ through the proclamation of the Gospel, leaving an enduring and radiant mark on the history of the Church.
Patriarch Kirill emphasized that the virtuous life, wise spiritual counsel, and rich legacy of Saint Sava continue to inspire the Serbian people today, strengthening them on the path of salvation and encouraging courageous witness to the beauty and truth of Holy Orthodoxy.
Concluding his message, Patriarch Kirill invoked the prayers of Saint Sava, asking the Lord to grant Patriarch Porfirije peace, good health, and unfailing divine assistance in his high pastoral ministry. He also prayed that God would abundantly bless the faithful of the Serbian Orthodox Church, strengthening them in their confessional witness, particularly at the great holy sites of Kosovo and Metohija.
