On the occasion of Independence Day, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of Georgia and all compatriots living abroad.
“I congratulate all of Georgia and our compatriots abroad on Independence Day,” the Patriarch stated in his message shared on official Church channels.
Highlighting the profound value of national sovereignty, His Holiness emphasized: “Independence is the greatest and most significant achievement of our nation, and it must be defended and cherished.”
The Patriarch called upon divine protection and guidance for the country’s future: “May God grant peace, strength, and prosperity to our nation.”
Concluding with a heartfelt blessing, he prayed: “May God bless, sanctify, and never withhold His mercy from Georgia—the land allotted to the Theotokos. Amen!”
Georgia celebrates Independence Day on May 26, commemorating the country’s declaration of independence in 1918.
