On July 3, 2025, Patriarch John X of Antioch warmly received Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Maronites, at the Patriarchal residence in Balamand.
During the encounter, Patriarch Al-Rahi conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the Maronite Church to Patriarch John X concerning the martyrs of Mar Elias Church in Doueir, expressing strong condemnation of the massacre. The two Patriarchs also reviewed the general situation and recent developments in the region, particularly their impacts on the Christian community and society at large throughout the countries.
Patriarch al-Rahi affirmed, “We stand by you and send our deepest condolences through you to the Orthodox Church and the families of the martyrs.”
