WCVB 5 recently ran a story highlighting the generosity of the Metropolis of Boston and St. Athanasius the Great Greek Orthodox Church in Arlington, MA. For the past 25 years the parish has worked together to donate Thanksgiving turkeys and other food items to those who need it most.
This year, to comply with social distancing requirements, the Metropolis Center in Brookline hosted the preparation of filling bags and unpacking boxes. Working in shifts of 25, community members young and old came to package the Thanksgiving meals.
The community raised thousands of dollars to purchase the items and all in all, this year’s event turned out larger than any other year, giving out four hundred and twenty-five dinners and offering the opportunity for families to enjoy a special Thanksgiving.
