Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas today welcomed French President Emmanuel Macron’s announcement regarding the upcoming recognition of a Palestinian state, describing it as a “victory for the Palestinian cause.”
According to a statement from the Palestinian Authority presidency, Abbas emphasized that Macron’s declaration “reflects France’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights to their land and homeland.”
Abbas also highlighted the “key role” played by Saudi Arabia in influencing France’s decision to recognize the Palestinian state, as reported by the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Furthermore, President Abbas urged all parties, especially European countries that have yet to recognize the State of Palestine, to do so based on the internationally endorsed two-state solution.
