More than 24,500 pilgrims have already venerated the relics of Saint Parascheva of Iași as of Thursday morning, according to Agerpres.
The annual pilgrimage began on Wednesday morning with a solemn procession carrying the relics of Saint Parascheva and placing them in a canopy near the Metropolitan Cathedral of Iași.
Authorities have issued recommendations urging pilgrims to pay special attention to children and the elderly traveling with them to avoid getting separated and to keep personal belongings safe.
“A very large attendance is expected at this event, and waiting times may be long. It is advisable to bring water and food, as shops are not available in all areas,” the Mobile Gendarmerie Group of Bacău announced.
They also advised pilgrims that, should they need to leave the line temporarily, they should inform volunteers or law enforcement, stay in contact with their group, and ensure their mobile phones are charged, ideally carrying a power bank for continuous communication with family or companions.
Beginning October 11, the relics of Saint Gregory Palamas, brought from Thessaloniki, will also be placed for veneration beside those of Saint Parascheva.
