Τhe established great inter-Orthodox co-liturgy took place the Orthodox Church of Saint Nicholas in Luxemburg, on Sunday, March 24, 2019.
It is a tradition for the Holy Metropolis of Belgium on the Second Sunday of Lent, to hold an Inter-Orthodox co-liturgy in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg with the participation of all the Orthodox figures, in order to testify in this way the unity of the Orthodox people of the country.
This year’s Divine Liturgy was led by the Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium and Exarch of the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
In his sermon the Metropolitan referred to the personality of the sanctified Saint Gregory Palamas, who bequeathed to the Church his writings and teachings, highlighting the experiential character of the Orthodox faith and theology in general.
During the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Athenagoras expressed his joy that, for yet another year, all Orthodox figures of Luxembourg participated in the Eucharistic gathering and received communion from the common communion cup, each one with his own language and tradition, attributing the breadth of Orthodoxy and its truly universal dimension.
