The Orthodox Church of Ukraine’s view on vaccination were reiterated by Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine as part of its participation in the forum “Ukraine 30. Coronavirus: Challenges and Answers.”
The forum opened with a speech by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and one of the key guests was the World Health Organization Director-General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who connected via video call.
He said the WHO would continue to provide assistance to Ukraine in dealing with the pandemic. European Commission President Ursula von Layen also gave a video address, saying that with the help of COVAX, the Ukrainian health system would receive vaccines this month.
The view of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine on vaccination has been repeatedly expressed by Metropolitan Epiphaniy.
The Metropolitan reaffirmed that there was no religious prohibition regarding vaccination, while in terms of the vaccination process and the quality of vaccines, the competent state health services were in charge of that issue.
