Two ordinations were recently celebrated in the Archdiocese of Canada.
On Tuesday, May 27, at the Church of St. John the Theologian in Toronto, Bishop Athenagoras of Patara ordained Iakovos Kerr, a student of the Theological Academy, to the Diaconate.
On Monday, June 2, at the Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Toronto, Archbishop Sotirios ordained Deacon Vasileios Rokkas, a graduate of the Theological Academy, to the Priesthood.
The ordination to the Diaconate was attended by nine priests from the Greater Toronto Area, while eighteen priests and many devout faithful were present at the ordination to the Priesthood.
The Archdiocese of Canada gives glory to God for these sacred moments and offers prayers that the newly ordained will serve the Church with faith, humility, and spiritual discernment.
Both ordinations were honored by the presence of the Consul General of Greece in Toronto, Ioannis Chatzantonakis, and Marilena Griva, Cultural Affairs Advisor at the Consulate.
After each ordination, a dinner was offered in celebration. Special thanks were extended to the auxiliary committee of the Church of St. John the Theologian, the Philoptochos Society of the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, and the Cathedral’s President, Anastasia Sotiropoulos, for their contributions.
