Metropolitan Arsenios of Austria and Exarch of Hungary presided over the Polyarchieratic Divine Liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Vienna, where Bishop Maximos of Aristi was ordained. Bishop Maximos was elected as Assistant Bishop of the Metropolis of Austria by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate on August 29, 2024.
About the New Bishop
The newly ordained Bishop Maximos of Aristi, born Romanos Rudko on July 25, 1983, in Lviv, Ukraine, is the son of Volodymyr and Nina Rudko. He completed his university studies in Lviv before attending the Theological School of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, where he also pursued postgraduate studies.
In 2018, Metropolitan Arsenios of Austria ordained him as a monk at the Holy Trinity Metropolitan Church in Vienna. Subsequently, he received the title of Archimandrite, was ordained as a Presbyter, and was appointed Protosyncellus of the Metropolis of Austria by Metropolitan Arsenios in 2023.
On August 29, 2024, the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate elected him as Assistant Bishop of Aristi, serving alongside Metropolitan Arsenios of Austria.
