In an atmosphere of reverence and ecclesiastical solemnity, the ordination of Bishop Ambrosios of Sinope took place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Saint Stephen’s Cathedral, Paris. The newly ordained bishop will serve as Auxiliary Bishop of the Holy Metropolis of France.
The Divine Liturgy was presided over by Metropolitan Dimitrios of France, who also performed the ordination to the episcopacy, assisted by concelebrating hierarchs. Concelebrants included Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium, Metropolitan Chariton of Elassona, and Bishop Christophoros of Amphipolis.
In his address, the newly ordained Bishop of Sinope spoke with emotion about his roots from the Byzantine hill of Servia, expressing gratitude to the spiritual teachers and mentors who shaped his ecclesiastical and spiritual journey.
The ceremony was also attended by the Mayor of Servia, Christos Eleftheriou, whose presence underscored the importance of the event for the local community.
It is recalled that Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Ambrosios Stambliakas was elected Bishop of Sinope following a decision of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which met on January 8, as announced by the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The ordination marked a significant moment for the Holy Metropolis of France, as Bishop Ambrosios begins his episcopal ministry in service to the Church in France.
