The Archbishop of Australia, Makarios, during the official dinner held in Melbourne to mark the celebration of his Name Day, honored 39 devout and Christ-loving members of the local Church with the Medal of the Order of the Philochristoi. The recipients were recognized for their voluntary service to the Church, offering their valuable time from work, family life, or personal rest.
“Their offering is a tangible glorification of God and an act of love for humanity,” His Eminence stated in reference to the honorees, adding: “I thank them from the depth of my being, I take pride in them, and I rejoice because philotimo is something that we Greeks have never lost. I pray that they may have God’s blessing in their lives and in their families.”
