One month has passed since the opening of the School of Byzantine Music of the Holy Diocese of Belgium “Saint Ilarios Bishop of Piktava”.
A month that was full of spiritual and musical experiences for the teachers and the numerous learners. The Holy Art of Damascinos is taught in Greek, French and Flemish, creating an additional connection of people with the worship life of our Church.
The coronavirus epidemic may have changed the original goals and visions, but in any case it should not impede the progress of the School. Considering that the life of the Christian has no impasses and wanting to continue the work of spreading ecclesiastical music, the School of the Diocese of Belgium, according to the measures of the state, adopted the distance learning method for the smooth conduct of the lessons.
In addition, a new lesson is added to the lessons taught. Within the responsibilities of our School is the teaching and dissemination of the Typicon, which has a prominent place in the worship life of our Church, as it is the set of instructions and provisions on how and when the services should be performed.
According to the above, the Diocese of Belgium is aware of the introduction of the course of learning the Typikon, which will be taught once a month, starting from Wednesday 25/11/2020.
The purpose of this course is the contact of the students with the order of the Church, their familiarity with the order of our Ecumenical Patriarchate and in general the study and apprenticeship of those interested in ecclesiastical order.
In addition to the students of the School of Byzantine Music, it is possible for any person who wishes to attend this course to participate, by contacting first the Head of the School, Deacon Constantinos Dedes, by phone: +32 470 98 69 23 or by email: sxoli.bizantinis@gmail.com.
