St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church Northridge hosted a luncheon in honor of Archbishop Elpidophoros of America on Monday, March 29, 2022.
Archbishop Elpidophoros presented the community with an icon of Saint Nicholas made by the brotherhood of the Burazeri Monastery of Mount Athos, one of the locations visited in early March during the first Centennial pilgrimage–one of five that the Archbishop will lead in 2022 in celebration of the Archdiocese’s hundredth year.
The Presidents of the Parish Council and Philoptochos Society respectively presented the Archbishop with generous donations for the Hellenic College Holy Cross on behalf of their organizations. Following the luncheon, the Archbishop joined the students of the K-8 Saint Nicholas Greek School—the only all-day Greek parochial school west of Chicago— for their Greek Independence celebrations. Also present were Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco, Bishop Spyridon of Amastris, and Metropolis Chancellor Bishop John of Phocaea.
That night, the Archbishop of America attended a dinner with the Archons of Southern California.
