At the Centre of Paschal Celebrations, οn Monday, April 25, 2022, at the celebrating Parish of Saint George, Thornbury, the memory of the glorious Saint George the Great Martyr and Trophy Bearer was celebrated in the Archdiocesan District of Northcote.
On the evening of Easter Sunday, on the eve of the feast, in the Holy Church of the central community of Saint George, the Festive Vespers were celebrated, officiated by Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta.
On Bright Monday, the day of the feast, Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta officiated at Orthros and presided over the paschal and solemn Divine Liturgy, in the presence of hundreds of believers who came reverently to the Church to Worship God and honor the memory of Saint George.
In his short homily, Bishop Evmenios referred to the Paschal message of Archbishop Makarios of Australia connecting some parts of it with the life of the honored Saint.
“His Eminence rightly states that in the Resurrection of Christ there were no witnesses and that is because God wants our relationship with Him to be based on our faith.” noted by His Grace and pointed out: “Such a man was Saint George, he believed in God alone and allowed God to be the only ruler of all his existence.”
Finally, Bishop Evmenios asked the faithful to remain devoted to the Church of Christ, while conveying the festive wishes and prayers of Archbishop Makarios of Australia and wished many years to those who bear the name of Saint George.
