A visit to the Acropolis and the Planet Physics exhibition centre was carried out by the unaccompanied minors of the hostel “Hestia” in the framework of the educational programs of the “Apostoli” structure and the effort for social integration of children.
The staff of “Hestia” guided the children to the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis and the ancient temples. The hosted minor refugees learned about the history of Ancient Athens, were impressed by the size of the historical monuments and, above all, by the way they were built 2,500 years ago.
Also, in the context of improving their relationship with science, minor refugees visited the exhibition centre Planet Physics, the purpose of which is to encourage, promote and support Physics education, by turning learning into an interesting and interactive activity.
Through this process, the children hosted in “Hestia” were encouraged to experiment, ask questions and discover the answers to these questions. The purpose of this visit, combined with the Physics classes that take place at the Hostel, was to cultivate the children’s interest in natural phenomena, to make them understand the laws governing the world and to encourage them for even more research.
