The first day of the new year 2023, the feast of the Circumcision of the Lord and the memory of Saint Basil the Great, was celebrated in the Holy Metropolis of Belgium.
Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel in Brussels, accompanied by priests and deacons of the Metropolis. Metropolitan Kyrillos of Krini attended the Divine Liturgy.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, an official Doxology was held for the beginning of the new year, after which Metropolitan Athenagoras addressed wishes and blessings for a year of peace, with health and unity among the people. In addition, he thanked Metropolitan Kyrillos of Krini for his presence and, taking the opportunity, invited him to return to Brussels and the Holy Metropolis to concelebrate the Divine Liturgy, as well as to speak to the faithful.
Metropolitan Athenagoras of Belgium and the sacred clergy about him wish that the new year will be full of grace and blessing of God for all the world, with peace and unity.
