The new Consul General of Bulgaria in Constantinople, Vassil P. Valchev, visited the Ecumenical Patriarchate today, Tuesday, April 20, 2021.
Valchev was warmly received by the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, with whom they had a long discussion on the life of the Mother Church of Constantinople and the Bulgarian community here, as well as the relations between the two brother Churches of Constantinople and Bulgaria.
It should be noted that the Ecumenical Patriarch and the Consul General have known each other for many years, from the time when Valchev served as Consul General in Thessaloniki and later in Anrianoupolis.
The meeting was attended by Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, while the new Consul General was accompanied by his associate, Ivaylo Stanev.
