There’s a new chaplain on the Holy Hill, though certainly not a new face.
With great joy, the HCHC community welcomed Archimandrite Bartholomew Mercado who officially commenced his duties with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy in the school’s historic Memorial Chapel on Sunday, August 22, 2022.
An alumnus of the beloved ‘scholi,’ Father Bartholomew completed his undergraduate studies at Hellenic College and earned both an M.Div and Th.M (the highest degree awarded by HCHC) at the School of Theology before proceeding to Rome, Italy to pursue doctoral studies at the Pontifical Oriental Institute. Academically trained as a Canonist, Fr. Bartholomew will also instruct the graduate school’s Canon Law courses.
Fr. Bartholomew succeeds Protopresbyter Michael Kouremetis who also serves as Dean of Students, as chaplain of HCHC. Fr. Michael is staying on board at HCHC, focusing on his ministry as Dean of Students.
