Today, Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa visited Heraklion, and specifically Nea Alikarnassos, where he presided over a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy in honor of Saint Eleftherios at the Holy Church located near the Nea Alikarnassos Prison.
The Divine Liturgy was celebrated in an atmosphere of profound reverence, with the participation of a large number of faithful, residents, and representatives of the local community, who gathered to receive the Patriarch’s blessing and to honor the memory of the Saint.
In a place of particular symbolism, due to its proximity to the Prison, Patriarch Theodore conveyed a message of faith, hope, and spiritual freedom, emphasizing that the Church stands constantly beside every human being.
The presence of the Patriarch of Alexandria in Heraklion constituted a significant spiritual event for the local community, reaffirming the timeless role of the Church as a bearer of love, unity, and social cohesion.
