NATO accession protocol for FYROM was signed. FYROM has been given the green light to participate in the NATO proceedings as an observer until the protocol is ratified by all member states.
The signing ceremony at the NATO headquarters in Brussels was attended by the Secretary General of NATOJens Stoltenberg, FYROM’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Dimitrov and representatives of 29 member states.
After the signature of the protocol, Jens Stoltenberg commented on Twitter that it was a historic day.
According to a diplomatic source invoked by ANA-MPA, FYROM wants to achieve a full membership status at the NATO summit next December in London.
Jens Stoltenberg did not comment on the issue, but explained that FYROM will be invited to participate in the NATO Foreign Ministers meeting as a guest in Washington in April.
