The results of the burglary were first seen by the priest of the church, the commissioner and the chanters who arrived at the church in the morning to perform the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the Feast of Saint Marina (July 17).
The holy relic of Saint Nectarios, which was kept in a special case in front of an icon, in the Church of Saint Nectarios, in Platanitis, Nafpaktia, was targeted by unknown people last night.
The sacrilegious men, after crossing the southern part of the temple, broke the window glass next to the gate of the altar, unlocked it and entered the temple.
Then, they removed the holy relic from the special case in front of the icon of the saint, while they also broke the lock of the metal box that holds the PA system in the altar of the church, hoping that something else could be kept in there.
The Nafpaktos police station was immediately notified, while Forensics is expected at the site in order to recover fingerprints.
