The monastery founded by Patriarch Daniel in his home village celebrated its patronal feast on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 when the Church commemorated Ruler Prince Saint Stephen the Great.
The Divine Liturgy was presided over by Bishop Emilian of Crisana, auxiliary bishop to the Arad Archdiocese.
In his homily, Bishop Emilian pointed to the luminous character of St Stephen who “through his life and zeal for Christ, founded many churches that remain until today.”
Saint Stephen, the hierarch said, was “a good believer of the Church, a defender of Christian faith in in troubled times of history and a confessor of Orthodox faith.”
Dobresti Monastery was founded on July 9, 2003 at the initiative of Patriarch Daniel, who was at that time Metropolitan of Moldavia and Bukovina.
The monastery is dedicated to St Parascheva, St Elijah and St Stephen the Great.
