The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada is blessed to have two wonderful monasteries that for three decades have served as a spiritual oasis for the faithful in the Greater Toronto and Montreal Areas.
On August 22-23, 2025, the Holy Monastery of the Virgin Mary the Consolatory (Panagia Parigoritissa) in Brownsburg-Chatham, Quebec, celebrated its feast day for the Apodosis of the Dormition of our Most Holy Lady the Theotokos and Ever Virgin Mary.
With the blessing of Archbishop Sotirios, Bishop Athenagoras of Patara, together with priests from the surrounding area, presided over Great Vespers and the Divine Liturgy, with many faithful coming with reverence to venerate the icon of Panagia Parigoritissa and to partake in the Mystery of Holy Communion.
On August 23-24, 2025, the Holy Monastery of St. Kosmas Aitolos in Bolton, Ontario, celebrated its feast day for our beloved Patrokosmas.
His Eminence, with the assistance of numerous Reverend Fathers – including Abbot Paisios from the Holy Monastery of St. Anthony in Arizona and Abbot Dositheos from the Holy Archangels Monastery in Texas – presided over Great Vespers on Saturday evening, along with the Divine Liturgy Sunday morning. Hundreds of people attended Vespers and venerated the holy relics of St. Kosmas, and even more attended the Liturgy, where three priests distributed Holy Communion for a long time to the faithful.
Archbishop Sotirios spoke movingly about the importance of remaining resolute in our faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ, particularly in the challenging times and circumstances facing today’s society around the world.
Both Monasteries, under the spiritual care of Abbess Alexia and Abbess Thekla, organized and performed everything with great care and diligence, to the glory of God. The Archdiocese extends its thanksgiving to both Mother Superiors, along with their Sistershoods, for their daily sacrifices and work in the Lord’s vineyard.
