Ministry of Education: Three Holy Hierarchs day is no longer a school holiday

Greek Ministry of Education

Schools will run classes as per usual on January 30, the Ministry of Education said on Monday, in a statement that announced how the annual profession-specific national holiday of the Three Holy Hierarchs (Trion Ierarchon), will from now on be a default school day.

Up until now January 30 has kept schools closed to commemorate the patron saints of education, St. Basil the Great, St. Gregory the Theologian, St. John Chrysostom.

However, the ministry’s announcement clarified that the the patron saints of education will be commemorated on the day within the regular school schedule.
