Metropolitan Theodoritos of Laodicea recently visited the Holy Hesychasterion of the Honorable Forerunner in Akritochori, Serres, before continuing his pilgrimage to Mount Athos.
On Sunday, August 2, the Metropolitan celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the impressive church of the convent, described as a remarkable contemporary ecclesiastical monument. The Byzantine choir of the monastic sisterhood chanted during the service.
The following day, Metropolitan Theodoritos travelled to the Holy Cell of Saint Anna in Karyes, Mount Athos, where he participated in the sacred services in honor of Saint Anna. During his stay, he was received with warm hospitality by Hieromonk Antipas.
As part of his pilgrimage, the Metropolitan visited the Holy Community of Mount Athos and venerated the revered “Axion Esti” icon of the Mother of God.
He subsequently visited the Holy Monastery of Iveron, where he met with Abbot Archimandrite Nathanael, as well as Xenophontos Monastery and its Abbot, Archimandrite Alexios. He also visited Stavronikita Monastery, where he met with Archimandrite Tychon.
During his visit to Stavronikita Monastery, Metropolitan Theodoritos also met with Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Loverdos and his German counterpart, Florian Hahn, who were visiting with their respective delegations.
