Metropolitan Seraphim characterized “unacceptable” to turn the reopening of Halki seminary and the mufti issue in Thrace into an issue of reciprocity.
In an interview for TV station SKAI, Metropolitan of Piraeus commented on Alexis Tsipras’ trip to Turkey. He said: “It is positive to keep channels of communication open the neighboring country.”
He also expressed his opposition to the new name of Skopje, confirming that he would never call it Northern Macedonia.
“I will call them Skopjans, never Macedonians,” he stressed. He also said: “All Greeks feel deeply wounded because the name of Macedonia will be used by the Slavs with the consent of government. A fictional nation will be created through the identity and the language”.
