On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Defence of Zambia between Metropolitan Ioannis of Zambia and the country’s Minister of Defence, Ambrose Lwiji Lufuma.
During the meeting, issues of social, philanthropic, and cultural interest were discussed. Particular emphasis was placed on the continuation of the student hosting program, which provides full scholarships for studies in Greece, as well as on the progress of the existing program involving 20 students enrolled at the Model Ecclesiastical Junior High and High School of the Holy Metropolis of Lamia.
Both parties expressed their satisfaction with the success of the program and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening it.
Additionally, matters concerning the friendly relations between Zambia and Greece were examined, especially in light of the recent signing of the bilateral Memorandum of Cooperation between the two countries’ Ministries of Defence. Special attention was given to cultural exchanges and joint initiatives that promote collaboration and mutual understanding between the two nations, as well as to the missionary work of the Church.
