On January 8, 2026, Metropolitan John of Zambia and Mozambique held a meeting at the headquarters of the Zambia Fire Service in Lusaka, where he conveyed New Year greetings from the Alexandrian Primate to the leadership of the Fire Service.
During a private meeting with the Fire Service Commander, Billings Chanda, discussions focused on cooperation between the Church and the Fire Service on contemporary social issues of mutual concern.
Metropolitan John also presented in detail the Olympic Education Program currently being implemented in Zambia under the auspices of the Association of Olympians. He highlighted the prospects for launching the program within the Fire Service, emphasizing its educational and social value.
The start of this cooperation is scheduled for the first week of February in the Zambian capital, coinciding with events related to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, marking an important step toward strengthening social engagement and educational initiatives in the country.
