On Thursday, July 11th, at the Metropolis Residence, Metropolitan John of Zambia welcomed Dr. Cheela Chilala, Head of the Department of Language, Philosophy, and Arts at the University of Zambia. The occasion marked the successful conclusion of the Olympic events organized by the Metropolis.
The Metropolitan expressed his gratitude to Dr. Chilala for his significant contributions to the Olympic events, presenting him with the Pythagoras Cup. In doing so, Metropolitan John emphasized the cup’s symbolic lesson on moderation and the importance of living a balanced life free from greed.
Additionally, Metropolitan John and Dr. Chilala discussed the upcoming signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Ionian University, the University of Zambia, and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Zambia. This agreement aims to establish the SEAT of Hellenic Civilization at the University of Zambia. The new academic program will offer courses in Greek language, philosophy, religious studies, and more, fostering a deeper understanding of Hellenic culture and heritage.
