On April 25, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, visited St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican to pay his respects at the coffin of the late Pope Francis.
The public farewell to the Pontiff, which lasted for three days, will conclude with the sealing of the coffin. The funeral and burial of Pope Francis are scheduled to take place on April 26 at the Basilica of Saint Mary Major (Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore) in Rome.
