On Wednesday of the third week of Great Lent, March 11, 2026, Metropolitan Hilarion of Timok celebrated the Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts at the Church of Church of the Holy Prophet Elijah in Boljevac.
Concelebrating with the Metropolitan were Protopresbyter-Stavrophors Igor Ivković and Dejan Milivojević, Protopresbyters Ivica Stanković and Nemanja Tobić, and Archdeacon Ilija.
Following the Divine Liturgy, clergy from the deaneries of Zaječar, Boljevac, Knjaževac, and Sokobanja approached the Holy Mystery of Confession. With the blessing of Metropolitan Hilarion, the confessor was Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Ljubomir Jovanović, a retired priest.
In his archpastoral address, Metropolitan Hilarion emphasized that the sacrament of confession is a manifestation of God’s love and mercy for all who belong to the Church of Christ, since through it believers are granted the opportunity to receive forgiveness of sins once again.
He also stressed that the faithful should approach the sacrament of confession with sincere repentance and with an awareness of their own sinfulness.
