On the morning of the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman, May 10, 2026, Metropolitan Prodromos of Rethymno participated in the Patriarchal and Synodal Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal Church of Saint George at the Phanar, praying from within the sanctuary during the celebration honoring all the holy Archbishops and Patriarchs of Constantinople.
The Divine Liturgy was presided over by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, concelebrating with hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne from the resident hierarchy.
Following the Divine Liturgy and the reception held in the Throne Hall, during which the Ecumenical Patriarch addressed the Archons of the Ecumenical Throne, Metropolitan Prodromos was received in private audience by the Ecumenical Patriarch at the Patriarchal Office.
During the meeting, the Metropolitan conveyed the filial respect and greetings of both himself and the faithful of the local Church of Rethymno and Avlopotamos. He also presented commemorative gifts to the Ecumenical Patriarch on the occasion of the completion of 35 years of his patriarchal ministry and 65 years of priesthood, praying that God grant him many more blessed years for the benefit of the Church.
The Ecumenical Patriarch expressed his concern and sympathy regarding the recent tragedy involving the murder of young Nikistratos Gemistos. Patriarch Bartholomew entrusted Metropolitan Prodromos with a handwritten Patriarchal letter of condolence addressed to the family of the late Nikitas, expressing the hope that similar tragedies may never occur again.
After receiving the Patriarch’s blessing, Metropolitan Prodromos returned to Crete later the same evening.
