On Monday, September 16, 2024, Metropolitan Panteleimon of Ptolemais, Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, met with Archbishop George of Cyprus at his office in the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus. The meeting was part of the celebrations for the feast of Saint Herakleidios, which Metropolitan Panteleimon attended at the invitation of Metropolitan Isaiah of Tamasos and Oreini.
During the meeting, Metropolitan Panteleimon conveyed the love and heartfelt gratitude of Pope and Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria to the Church of Cyprus, expressing the deep bonds of fraternity and cooperation between the two Churches.
Following the meeting, Metropolitan Panteleimon was given a guided tour of the personal apartment of the late Archbishop Makarios III, situated within the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus. This visit underscored the historical ties and shared heritage between the Patriarchate of Alexandria and the Church of Cyprus.
