“We will return to our churches, but for now we will pray in our home,” Metropolitan Hierotheos of Nafpaktos said, answering questions from the journalist Nikos Evangelatou on the TV show “Live News” of the MEGA TV Channel.
The spokesman of the Church of Greece on the issues of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic commented on the new Joint Ministerial Decision of 6-4-2020, saying that “we proposed the way in which it would be done and the Government accepted it,” “…because we, the people of the Church, of the Orthodox Church, are also very careful about this issue” [of the pandemic]. He also stated that this is a decision that “concerns not only the Church of Greece, the Orthodox Church, but also all places of religious worship of any kind and of any legal and canonical and religious status in general, as it says.”
Metropolitan Hierotheos recommended to the priests to act with responsibility regarding the observance of government orders and to avoid the festive bells that will invite people to the Church.
