Metropolitan Teofan of Moldavia and Bukovina officiated on Wednesday, November 17, the sacrament of the Holy Unction in the courtyard of “St Parascheva” Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases in Iași.
Afterwards, the Romanian hierarch dressed in full sanitary protective equipment and went to bless and encourage the Covid-19 ICU patients.
Florin Roșu, the hospital manager, described the visit as full of “light, comfort, and appreciation.”
“The hospital joyfully received the blessed hierarch’s visit, who officiated the Holy Unction in front of Dr. Alexandru Slătineanu’s statue from our courtyard,” the manager said, as quoted by a local newspaper Ziarul de Iași.
“Then he did even more: he visited the patients that are most affected by the coronavirus, those in the Intensive Therapy Care, who need both medicine and spiritual comfort.”
“Metropolitan Teofan told the medical staff about a priest treated at our hospital: whenever he sees people dressed in white, the man of God feels like crossing himself. We are humbled and thankful for each good thought sent to us. It motivates us,” concluded the manager.
